For anyone considering an ‘environmental career’ you may be interested in an event happening on Thursday 13th February. It’s not specifically targeted at PhD students but instead is open to any student with an interest in the area. You will hear environmental professionals speak about green space initiatives, renewables, managing environmental and community projects, and field based ecological and environmental consultancy. Elaine Anderson, Secretary Vice Convenor Scottish Section Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management…..Roles have involved project development and management, undertaking protected mammal and habitat surveys as well as being responsible for team management.
Naomi Campbell, Development Manager (Scotland), The Crown Estate … Naomi’s career has seen her work for local government, environmental protection agencies, commercial consultants, renewable energy developers and estate managers.
Paul Sizeland, Partnership Manager, Lothian & Fife Green Network Partnership … Worked on sustainable cities that included; climate change adaptation and mitigation, green infrastructure and environment and health, and management of European urban sustainability projects.
Nicola Tyrell, Director of Ecology with RST Environment Ltd…. An established Ecological and Environmental Consultant, Nicola also has experience in raising awareness of environmental issues through education to the wider community.
Dr Alistair Hamilton, Programme Leader Environmental Teaching Group, SRUC …. experience across academia, consultancy, self-employment & working for SNH, RSPB, and Forest Research.
