I’ve already mentioned the Careers Fair happening next week on the 8th and 9th October. What I forgot to do was tell you that there is now a new section on the careers fair web pages that will let you see which employers attending the fair are particularly interested in talking to PhD students. It doesn’t mean that they have specific job opportunities for PhD graduates (some do have but many have one graduate recruitment programme open to students graduating from all levels of degree) but it does mean that they should be receptive to conversations with PhD students.
To check out the list of employers see the fair section of our website.
For those of you interested in working in the not-for-profit (or voluntary) sector then we have our Third Day: More than Profit event on Thursday 10th October from 1 – 4pm at Adam House on Chambers Street. This is not a recruitment event but it is an opportunity to meet people from a range of organisations in the third sector and find out about the job roles available and routes into employment. Organisations attending include the Department for International Development, Rocket Science (social research consultancy), Macmillan Cancer Support, RSPB Scotland and many more. To see the full list and programme for the afternoon go to the fair website.
