I mentioned the importance of networking in my last post on academic applications and interviews.  You all know already that it is an important part of planning and managing your career but knowing something and doing it are not always the same thing (and I speak from experience).

I just spotted on the Guardian Higher Education Network blog that they are holding a live chat on Friday 5th April from 12 – 2 pm on higher education networking and I thought some of you may be interested in joining in.  Some of the topics they aim to cover are:

  • Making networking work for you and your institution
  • Impact of online networking on offline engagement
  • Barriers to networking and how can they be overcome
  • Importance of internal and external networks

So if you want to get some tips about how to make networking work for you, try to find some time over lunch on Friday to join the chat.  You’ll find more details here.
